Privacy Policy

ReelNature ("we", "us", "our") operates the ReelNature mobile application (the "App").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

• Google Sign-In: email address, unique user ID
• Guest account: unique user ID
• Username
• Profile photo (if provided)

1.2 Catch Data

When logging a catch, we may store user-provided details such as:

• Fish species and catch details entered by the user
• Catch photos (uploaded by the user)
• Date and time
• Optional location data (latitude and longitude) if you enable location at save time
• Environmental context (e.g. tide, temperature) used for logging and display

Some of this information may be visible to other users if you choose to share it publicly.

1.3 Camera Access

ReelNature requests access to the device camera solely to allow users to take photos of their catches within the App.

• Photos are only stored if you choose to save them.
• Camera access is never used without user interaction.

1.4 Location Data

Location access is optional and only requested when saving a catch.

• If granted, precise GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) may be stored with the catch entry.
• Location data is not collected in the background.

1.5 Analytics and Crash Reporting

We use Google Firebase services to help us improve the App:

• Firebase Analytics (usage insights)
• Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting)

You can disable analytics and crash reporting in the App settings.

2. How We Use Information

• Provide and maintain the App
• Store your catch log and photos
• Enable community features when you choose to share content
• Improve stability and performance

We do not sell personal data.

3. Data Storage and Security

We store and process data using Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage). Data is transmitted using encryption (HTTPS).

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data.

If you share catches publicly, other users may see:

• Username
• Profile photo
• Catch photos
• Catch data, including optional location if you included it

Firebase may process data as a service provider for hosting and infrastructure.

5. Data Retention

We retain data as long as your account remains active, or as needed to provide the App.

6. Account Deletion

You can delete your account directly in the App (Settings → Delete account).

When you delete your account, we immediately delete your account information and associated user content (such as catches and uploaded photos) from our systems.

7. Your Rights (EU/EEA Users)

If you are located in the European Union/EEA, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
